Description
This course unit is compulsory for all students. It contains a series of conferences (CONF), in which various speakers give presentations on the techniques of oral or written scientific communication, on careers in public and private research, the organization of research, intellectual property and specific research fields. The course unit also contains an in-depth presentation on the writing of scientific publications (RAS).

Writing of scientific publications (RAS)
This course is an initiation to the "art" of publication. The following subjects are tackled:
- The role of writing papers in a researcher's activity.
- Why, when and how?
- Some advices to write a paper.
- Peers' evaluation.
- How to evaluate a paper. Criteria, advices.
- Deontological aspects: multiple publications, plagiarism...
An exercise of paper evaluation will be proposed to volunteers.
